Pretti Spotlight: Meet Kaydene Grant the Woman Teaching Women to Own Their Kweendoms

You’ve likely seen her on the streets of Philly filming her viral Bible Tea videos on Instagram, but there is so much more taking place in this Kween’s world. Affectionately referred to as Coach K, Kaydene Grant is a life coach, entrepreneur, and Kweendom builder. Her morning devotions and her Thy Kweendom Come podcast provide viewers a safe space to grow in their relationship with God. I don’t even know if I have the words to articulate my excitement that Kaydene is my first Pretti Spotlight. Check out our interview below 

1. First things first, why do you spell Kweendom with a “K” and not a “Qu”? 

Ha! If there is one thing I’ve learned it's if the world glorifies something, God definitely honors the opposite. The world loves for us to look at ourselves as Queen Bees. But hunntyyy do you know what I learned about actual Queen Bees?! They are groomed to murder every one of their sisters because there can only be one Queen Bee in the hive, then they fly out of the hive to mate with every fine-looking Bee they can find just to fly back to the hive, murder their mama the former Queen Bee because again there can only be one…to finally spend the rest of their days pumping out millions of babies to one day be murdered by one of them. (Laughter) I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be that type

of Queen. I’ve learned that the best way to rule is to get up off of my throne and let Jesus take the seat. I know who I am and whose I am. I know my worth, which is why I spell  Kween with a KW and not a Qu.

2. You’ve often described yourself as a “rebel PK”,  how do you think that rebellious streak led you on your current career path? 

I've never done things the traditional way. It’s something that may have gotten me in trouble during my teen years, but I think it’s exactly what God uses within me to connect to so many millennials. So many of us are holding on to so much church hurt. I’m on a mission to help people get back into their relationship with God. It’s time to stop associating God with those church folk that hurt you.

3. Your Bible Tea videos are hilarious, and I’ve personally had some amazing debates in the comment section of a couple of videos. Did you expect that those videos would blow up the way that they did? 

I had no clue they were going to blow up. I’ve been making content for a long time. I’ve done transitions, and outfit changes, and I went viral for the first time dancing around my house because my student loans were forgiven, but it’s like no matter what I did people still wouldn't notice this really dope chic dropping all these spiritual gems at 5:30 am in the morning, or spitting real talk on her podcast. I was so frustrated. For once in my life I was finally being obedient consistently to what God was telling me to do (you know rebel PK and all that) and I felt like I planted seeds and was watering for a long time and nothing was sprouting! In July I was so frustrated with God I literally cried out to him, “when is my time Lord…” and I heard him say “Now.” When I tell you I believed him with every ounce of my being something ignited inside of me. The next month I went home to visit my parents and right there on their shelf was my childhood bible stories book. I just saved this audio in IG… it was soooo dramatic and I remember thinking I should finally make those videos about bible stories I always wanted to do… I did the first Bible tea on King David and I never got so many notifications so fast. So, I did another one on Abraham and Sarah but it was that third one on Joseph that took it to another level. I hit a million views in less than a month! 

4. “Thy Kweendom Come” podcast is in its second season, and the audience is growing! What are some things that we can expect this season? 

The Kweens are coming!!! 2023 is all about being Disciplined, Obedient, and Aligned. I created the Kweendom Halo Planner to go in  conjunction with “Morning Devotions with Coach K” and I've also aligned each podcast episode to each of our 8 Halos. So each podcast episode this season will feature a Halo guru! A Kween with expertise to share on how to align our Mind, Spirit, Body, Home, Money, Career, Purpose, our Heart by putting God first.

5. Your Kweendom Planner was your first product launch, what was that like for you and what advice would you give to an entrepreneur launching their first physical product? 

What was it like? Chile, blood sweat, tears and prayers. Literally! I’m creating a course on how I did it because I reached out to so many companies and NOBODY shared info with me; like no tea whatsoever! It was very daunting doing all the research and feeling so lost not knowing where to start. I don’t want other people to feel that way. I also learned that it's not about how I accomplish my mission, as much as it is about who I became in order to see the vision through. The version of me that existed in the beginning wasn't going to be able to get this done. God had to do some things in me first. I had to get HALO’d up and now I want to help other women undergo a similar transformation.

My advice would be take your time. Once you have all your information there is a process from vision to execution and skipping around and rushing that process only hurts the quality of your product. If you don’t have months to  plan and execute then it’s not the time for you to launch a quality product.

6. How has your business growth impacted your role as a wife and mom? 

Chilleee I need a planner that is why I created one! (Laughter) Seriously! I’ve now created a rule for myself. Put down my phone, pause the tv, or close the laptop when my husband or son is talking to me. I have to give them my undivided attention because if I don’t my mind is swimming off like Dori into the long checklist of things I have to do. So automation systems and hiring staff became a must for me. I have to work smarter so I can spend my time with my boys.

7. With all that your career demands from you energetically, how do you pour into yourself?

My support system is extremely important. My husband is my rock. This would be difficult without his love and support. My mother and sister are my lifelines. I talk to them everyday multiple times a day. My girlfriends, the ones that live close to me and the ones that are far, pour into me and hold me accountable. My Ethos fam is my millennial ministry. They keep me spiritually grounded. I've been purposely taking self care to a whole new level. Spa days, cafe lunch dates by myself just to read a book, and I’m currently searching for the perfect black female therapist because I think mental wellness should be part of everyone’s self care regimens.

8. You’re a content creator and a life coach. What systems do you have in place (or are you putting in place) to make sure that you are consistent with your content? 

The system I’ve created for myself is to never leave home without three things, a charger, my phone stand, and my Bible Stories Book. Lol. I know content creator gurus have all these dos and don'ts and ebooks on how to make content but my advice is really simple. Stop trying to make content and just be the content. You literally are watching my everyday life in my videos. I’m folding clothes, cooking breakfast, and dropping my son off at school. It just so happens that I have my 3 things with me because you better believe I’m gonna make a bible tea video.

9. If you could get a message to your sixteen-year-old self, what would it be? 

Girrlll just dump him already! LOL I’m joking, but not really. 16 was rough. I would say, Daddy is right. ‘Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.’
