Angel Reese’s Reebok Collection: A Game-Changer for WNBA Player Collaborations and a Lesson in Branding

For years, I’ve found myself in countless debates about the appeal—or lack thereof—of  WNBA player collaborations.  Despite my love for the game, I could never get excited about the fashion on, off, or around the court. But this season, something changed, and I’ve been vocal about giving credit where I believe it’s due: Angel Reese. Some may have doubted the impact she’s had on the league’s fashion, but nothing warms my heart like being right. When I received the ESPN alert, “Angel Reese’s ‘Reebok by Angel’ collection completes her pop culture takeover,” it felt like a validation of everything I’ve been saying.

Angel Reese’s new collaboration with Reebok is more than just another athlete-endorsed line. It’s a testament to the power of branding, the importance of surrounding yourself with the right team, and the value of being teachable while staying true to yourself. This collection is bright, playful, feminine, and perfectly designed to appeal to a wide audience—from young girls heading back to school to corporate mamas squeezing in their gym time.

The timing of the drop on August 23rd—Kobe Bryant’s birthday—makes me wonder if the collection which consists of blue white and silver is a subtle nod to the late NBA player, who was a passionate supporter of women’s basketball and an avid advocate for it’s growth. Whether intentional or not, it’s a beautiful connection to one of the game’s greats.

What Angel has done with this collection is a masterclass in branding. She’s shown the importance of finding a good team that understands your vision and helps bring it to life. But just as crucial is her willingness to be teachable—to learn from those around her while staying true to her personal style and values. It’s been a little rocky but the proof is in the roll out. Angel secured her Reebok collab in October 2023. Since then we have seen her announce that she was entering the draft in Vogue, attend the MET Gala, secure partnerships, set WNBA rebounding records, hell she has proven herself popular with some of the top women in hip-hop. This collection reflects her authenticity, her strength, and her ability to resonate with fans both on and off the court.

In PR and branding, there’s nothing more powerful than a well-rounded, authentic brand that speaks to its audience. Angel Reese has accomplished that with this Reebok collaboration, and I couldn’t be more excited to see where she goes from here.

Below, you’ll find images of the Reebok by Angel collection, which drops on 8/23. Don’t miss out on grabbing something that not only looks great but also represents this new era in WNBA fashion.
