From Breakdown to Breakthrough: How Monique Cabrera Built the Haus of Self

There’s something instantly familiar about Monique Cabrera—like the friend you’ve been meaning to call back but always seem to pick up right where you left off. We laughed early in our conversation, discovering mutual connections and shared truths. But underneath the lightness was this powerful woman who has fought to become herself, and now holds space for other women to do the same.

Monique is the founder of Haus of Self—a transformational space where women go to remember their power, choose themselves, and rewrite the stories life tried to hand them. She’s a self-love enthusiast, a transformation & mindset coach, and someone who knows what it means to break down before you break through.

“God called me to coaching and I was like… are you sure?” she says, half-laughing, half-humbled. “I didn’t think I was the right person.” But the call was real, and it came after navigating her own healing journey—facing heartbreak, abandonment, and the exhaustion of being everything for everyone but herself.

With roots in corporate leadership and sales, Monique is no stranger to developing training programs and creating space for growth.

Through her company Haus of Self, Monique walks women through the messy middle—the part of life where you’re no longer who you were, but not quite sure who you’re becoming. “There are so many women who’ve lost themselves in relationships or motherhood or just… life. And they try to go back to who they were. But you can’t,” she says. “The goal isn’t to go back—it’s to evolve.”

Before Monique ever started guiding other women on their healing journeys, she had to take a bold one of her own. “On paper, my life looked good,” she says. “But I didn’t feel good—and then I felt guilty for not feeling good, because again, on paper my life looked really good.” That internal disconnect led her to ask deeper questions: What’s really going on? What am I really searching for?

The answer didn’t come from another party or weekend trip. It came during a solo flight to Sedona on Christmas morning. “One of my friends had told me about this soul retreat she went on. I thought she was crazy as shit when she told me,” she laughs. “But then I got desperate. I felt like I was in a dark depression, like I was really down. So I booked a flight Christmas Eve, flew out Christmas Day, and thought—great, now you’re the one who’s bat shit crazy. Where are you even going by yourself?”

That solo retreat turned out to be one of the best decisions she’s ever made. It was there, in the stillness and solitude of Sedona, that Monique began to meet herself again. The experience not only sparked her healing—it lit the foundation for the work she now does with women across the world.

Whether you meet Monique through one of her 1:1 sessions, community events, or digital programs, the experience is the same: affirming, transparent, and rooted in real transformation. She doesn’t promise overnight change—she offers something more meaningful: sustainable growth rooted in self-trust.

Beyond Haus of Self, Monique has made impact as the former Creative Director of Avision Mag, using storytelling to elevate voices of resilience. She’s led women’s empowerment groups that feel more like sacred sister circles, always centering connection and clarity.

Now, she’s scaling Haus of Self into something bigger—a hub for self-love and mindset that doesn’t just inspire women, but equips them. “Entrepreneurship is wild,” she says, “but it’s also the path to becoming who you’re really meant to be.”

Monique Cabrera is the kind of woman who reminds you that you are allowed to begin again. That healing can be hard, but you don’t have to do it alone. And that becoming “her” isn’t about perfection—it’s about choosing yourself, one decision at a time.
